Critical AI Fresk

A collaborative card-based workshop to step back from artificial intelligence, examine its narratives, impacts, and blind spots, and open a more critical group conversation about AI uses.

Critical AI Fresk offers a collective exploration of artificial intelligence issues through a card-based workshop. Participants connect visible AI uses with infrastructure, data, design choices, power dynamics, and the social and ecological impacts around them. Following the Fresk format, the workshop creates an accessible discussion space: people handle cards, build links, compare viewpoints, and identify the questions that should be answered before adopting or deploying AI systems.

Artificial intelligence is often presented as technical inevitability or as an abstract promise. This workshop brings it back into collective discussion: what do we want to automate, under what conditions, with which data, hidden costs, and alternatives? It is especially relevant for audiences that want to move beyond hype and build a more critical shared culture.

  • This workshop is developed by its own association. Ecogames helps organize it, include it in public events, and connect venues with trained facilitators.
  • Ecogames distributes more than half of registration fees back to the workshops' supporting associations, funding their deployment, evolution, and updates.
